2101 dVELO 105
Indian Head, Maryland USA
2 September 2010
Eight brave cyclists started out from Indian Head, MD in a steady drizzle that gave false promise of lightening up before turning into a downpour. Fortunately, the sun came out by mid-afternoon, allowing everybody to finish with dry clothing. Three cyclists finished the full 100 miles (Louise Tripoli took a false turn but refused to give up and finished with 106 miles for the day). Allen Markel and his sons undertook the 60-mile challenge and all three finished happily. It was a beautiful, rolling route and notable sights along the way included vultures, turtles, and watery swamps – all less than an hour south of DC.
